A Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ; a believer in His teachings and in His teachings only. On 25 December 2025, Trump bombed the city of Sokoto in Nigeria apparently at the behest of Christians, on the grounds of protecting Nigeria’s Christians from Muslim terrorists. That bombing of Sokoto does not at all align with what Jesus Christ taught.
Mathew 5: 9 – ‘Blessed are the peace makers, for they shall be called the children of God.’
Mathew 5: 39 – ‘If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.’
Mathew 5: 41 – ‘And who ever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.’
Mathew 5: 44 – ‘Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.’
Mathew 22: 39 – ‘Love your neighbour as you love yourself.’
Mathew 24: 6 – ‘You will hear of wars and rumours of war…such things must happen.’
Mathew 26: 52 – ‘Those who live by the sword will die by the sword’
These are the teachings of Jesus Christ. Jesus taught passivism, non-violence, love of enemy, and turning the other cheek. Jesus did not teach ‘just war’. That concept was introduced into Christianity by St Thomas Aquinas (1225 – 1274), a Christian monk and theologian.
Trump’s bombing of Sokoto was a crusade, a Christian version of the Jihad. It was an extension of the pogrom that Jews were perpetrating in Gaza against Muslims. It was an extension of the persecution of Muslims in Trump’s America.
